an unfortunate perspective

Hubs and I went out for dinner with his mum and the kids tonight.  This is the first time we've been out with them to a real restaurant - the twins are 15 months and our older daughter is 2 1/2.

We were seated in the middle of the restaurant, with booths on the side of us.  A couple around our age came in before our dinners arrived and the woman gave us "the look".  I knew before she even opened her mouth she was going to ask for another table.  Sure enough she did - rather loudly I might add.

Now my first instinct was to be pissed - my kids are good!  They behaved well and the people that ended up sitting at that table even said so (of course they didn't know the 2 1/2 year old took a crap under the table (yes in her diaper!) but hey whatever!).  My MIL said something about how she must not like kids and gave a little giggle.  Hubs and I looked at each other and said almost in unison "or maybe she just lost a baby"

I wish I wasn't in that club, but I am.  X3 if anyone doesn't know.  It's a shitty club with a shitty membership card - that you carry in secret, but the other members know you've got one.

It's an unfortunate any of us have to look at things this way - I'd be much happier if I just thought she was a bitch.

Letter of the week - N

I couldn't think of anything that exciting this week - so we made some "N"emo "N"'s.  Who doesn't love Nemo right!  We also made some cute "n"ests which are sitting on our window sill in the hopes spring will come soon!!

Here's the slideshow - sorry I'm tired again!

A-Rod's answering machine tapes

I can't take credit for this one - but I thought all my fans would like it so I stole it!

10. "Hey, it's Mark McGwire. Want to get together this week and not talk about the past?"
9. "Joe Torre here -- thanks for helping book sales"
8. "Could you find a steroid that keeps you from choking in the playoffs?"
7. "Are you worried this will taint all the championships you didn't win?"
6. "It's Bernie Madoff. Nice try but I'm still the most hated man in New York "
5. "Michael Phelps here. Got any snacks?"
4. "This is Sammy Sosa. Just pretend you don't speak English"
3. "Michael Phelps again. Did I call you or did you call me?"
2. "Hey, it's Rod Blagojevich -- I'll say you're innocent, if you say I am"
1. "It's Madonna. You got a phone number for Jeter?"

Happy Valentine's Day!

We worked on so many (too many?) Valentine's Day projects over the last few weeks!  I had a blast - basically anything I came across we made.  I didn't realize how much we did until I put the slide show together - 131 photos, yikes!!!  No, no I didn't include them all - but there is quite a few so I didn't bother with captions.  As always the finished results are in Lorelei, Sadie, John order so you know whose is whose.

We made Valentine's butterflies, some cute frames for Dad to take to work, heart shaped sun-catchers, footprint hearts, a crown for Lorelei and some cards for Daddy.

Everything was a huge hit!  Sadie and John especially loved the sun-catchers - the glitter in the little salt shaker worked like a charm.  The footprint hearts were so much fun - I did them last year and I can't believe how much bigger everyone is!  Lorelei loved making the crown, it took a bit of convincing as she was not in project mood that afternoon, but once I folded up the points and she realized what it was she was dancing around with it on - once we added the heart's it was even more fun!  Oh and yes Lorelei wrote her own name on her card for Daddy - I'm sooooo proud of her!!!

Hope you can make it to the end of the show!  I can't wait to start St. Patrick's Day projects!

accidently artsy

This morning I did a Valentine's project with the kids involving footprints.  Needless to say attempting to dip their feet in paint, make foot prints in the shape of a heart, take photos and try to avoid a mess was a bit of a challenge.

Apparently I hit the zoom button before taking this pic - didn't it come out cool?

I guess the only way I'm artsy is accidently!

Letter of the week - M

We worked on the letter "M" last week - I was going to make some "M"ayo to go with our "K"etchup from a few weeks back, but alas I did not.  Instead we made some cute snow capped "M"ountains and a "M"ermaid.

Sadie and John are really starting to "get it" when it comes to projects - it's making things a little difficult trying to keep the all entertained while I get things ready, so I've been doing more and more prep work the night before.

We've also been doing some Valentines Day projects which I can't wait to show off!  We're going to skip the letter of the week this week because I have a few more cute Valentines Day things I want to fit in and don't want them to get overwhelmed.
We'll be back with letter "N" soon - can anyone help me make a "N"emo out of the letter "N"?

Letter of the week - L

We finally got to use the leave that Lorelei and I picked up back in October when we started this whole "letter of the week" project ideas!

I was so excited - unfortunately Lorelei really didn't care much.  But she tried and we had fun just the same.  Sadie was only allowed one leave because she kept crunching them and eating them (surprise!) - but she liked it and seemed to understand a little about what to do with the glue.  John as usual loved it and was more than excited to put the leaves down.  He got into the marker eating a bit, but tried to use the glue himself which was so cute.

Lorelei and I finally made it to story hour at the Library, which just happened to coincide with "L" week.  I forgot my camera but she enjoyed the story and was very happy to learn she got to do a project when it was done, we'll be going every week now which will be nice for us to have some time alone, together.

The only other "L" project we did was the "L"ion I found here - and Daddy was home that night so he participated as well.  She didn't like the tail, which I thought was adorable, so I snuck it on after she went to bed :)
